Electronics Technician (m/f) for Automation Technology

Training period: 3.5 years


Electronics Technicians for Automation Technology install electronic assemblies in CNC machines. They set up machines and their drive systems, take care of control and feedback of the machines, and monitor and maintain them regularly. In the event of a malfunction, they are able to locate and eliminate it immediately. They also program, configure and test automation systems and IT systems.


In the electronics department within the training workshop, Electronics Technicians learn how to set up electrical systems in a safe environment, carry out measurements, analyze, evaluate and digitize the recorded results.

There are many possibilities to reproduce and research practical examples. By integrating real orders from production, processes from the future workflow are already taught here.


As of the second year of their training, our Electronics Technicians are already actively supporting the professionals in the operating areas. During installation of electrical assemblies and commissioning of CNC machines, they gather lasting knowledge and consolidate their skills in control and drive technology.
Assessing the safety of electrical systems and equipment is of utmost importance in this occupational field and is an integral part of training.


WORKING AREAS of our Electronics Technicians for automation technology include control cabinet construction, installation of machines and their components in the entire production area as well as maintenance.

REQUIREMENTS include good mathematical understanding, logical and abstract thinking, spatial imagination, fine motor skills, and an intact sense of color. Equally important are team spirit, willingness to learn, a high level of concentration, diligence, and sense of responsibility.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES: Commissioning and final acceptance of CNC machines; customer service; specialization in software implementation.

FURTHER QUALIFICATION OPPORTUNITIES: Master Craftsman; Electrical Engineer; Business Economist; Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.).

Subsequent fields of activity: Work planner in work preparation; project supervisor for automation topics or implementation of new electronic components, integration of Industry 4.0 topics; design engineer in the area of electrical design; reorientation into commercial areas such as inventory management as technical purchaser.
